In the early 1940s, Sophie Scholl took a stand to resist Nazi efforts to persecute Jewish people in Germany. As a member of the White Rose, an intellectual group comprised of members primarily from the University of Munich, Sophie was not alone in her acts of resistance against the Nazis. Due to ethical and moral objections, Sophie and the group members endeavored to spread the word about Hitler’s atrocities. For an additional year, Sophie continued to fight for the freedom of others despite a great deal of risk until her execution at age twenty-two. Even in her final moments, Sophie continued to stand for her beliefs.
